Sethu’s Happy Place
Sethu lives in a rural area in Swaziland with his father and some members of his extended family, his mother and younger brother passed away from a terminal illness 3 years ago. This affected him socially and he became a little bit withdrawn, however the presence of his cousins soon made him more happier and less despondent. He is now a happy child who loves running around and playing soccer with his cousins. He loves school and aspires to one day becoming a soldier.
His home is a 30-minute walk from his school. For most children in the area, after school lets out at 2:30pm and most of them then walk home in order to have a meal and to do chores such as herding cattle or goats and fetching water.
Many children in Sethu’s area live in low – income households, either due to unemployment or lack of small business opportunities. Okoh Foundation decided to support him and his father with school uniform as well as groceries. Our involvement in this family is continuous and is just one of many ways we assist in our communities.
